O.K. I've seen some disturbing stuff on the internet--goatse.cx, tubgirl, the squatter--but this is the Absolute Worst Thing Ever.

any word on maggot-brain's prognosis?

I don't know--I just found the link today. I can't imagine it would be particularly good. (However, I don't think that the maggots were doing much harm. From what I understand, they generally only eat dead tissue, and are sometimes deliberately used to clean out recalcitrant wounds, such as foot ulcers. The greater danger is the underlying infection. I'm dumbfounded that he lived as long as he did, let alone that he would let it get that bad before seeking treatment.)

Actually, though maggots are used to eat and remove dead flesh, they will start to devour living tissue as well once they're out of dead material. Judging by the amount of time these things were in his head, I'm guessing they probably moved onto healthy tissue as well.

Ah, the things you learn on TLC.

It's also probably not eating appropriate, and you may become infertile.

From the other comments this has gotten, I'm glad I can easily resist clicking on things that are put in front of me.

I would describe the images as an ideological tour-de-force, something that nobody can miss and still call themselves educated. Everybody can see a bit of themselves in the work, yet at the same time, feel slightly distant, but it's the good kind of distant. If you don't click on the link, you will be poorer for it, and your children, and your children's children as well.

Hehehe ;). That's the nastiest shit I've ever seen. BUT, I saw it a while back on Stileproject (http://www.stileproject.com/braindrain.html)..

If there's a moral to the story, it's VISIT THE FUCKING DOCTOR ALREADY!

Hey, that's Stile ;). I guess after looking at a trillion perfect porno pics, you get a little jaded and long for something to shock or titillate you again.. like the Marquis de Sade, who got so sick of beautiful women he started going after particularly ugly ones to satisfy his lusts.. *chuckles*.. what a great guy, huh? ;)

And you should check out this webcomic one of Stile's friends (or 'friends') did, called Stile Sux (http://www.stilesux.com), it's.. interesting. Check the back arrows for the older ones.

Wow. People are dumb.

But what I want to know is, what does this guy do for a living? I mean, did he go to work like that for weeks? Did NO ONE see him in that time span and maybe suggest he ought to see a doctor? Dang.

I wonder that too. My bet is that he was on Social Security or disability. His friends and family are dead or live far away. He didn't get out much, and when he did he wore a hat. Most of his food was delivered via a Meals on Wheels or some similar program.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. But I still think that maggotbrain has it beat. The motorcycle injury happened in an instant--maggotbrain developed over months. (I also doubt that injury was motorcyle-induced; it looks more like a self-inflicted shotgun wound to me. )

On his bright side, there wouldn't have been much pain associated with the infestation 'cause the brain doesn't have any receptors for it.

Come on, it isn't that bad. Look on the bright side, the maggots were keeping the life threatening infection the man's brain had at bay by devouring the putrefying tissue.

That's one of the things they teach you at medical school; never remove the maggots from an infested wound immediatly, you're suppost to put the person on a regime of antibiotics to kill the bacteria which would otherwise bloom if the restraining maggots were removed.
