Yes, yes, I know they're dirty socialists, but I enjoy This American Life's vignettes of quirky Americana. So I was pleased when Keith Murphy, on the Free State mailing list noted:

"...On NPR this morning, I heard a trailer for this week's "This American Life," featuring the FSP. The thirty seconds I heard were
overwhelmingly positive, with a series of commonsense quotes from FSP participants.

This piece will feature interviews with porcs who came to the College Park, MD meeting back in December, as well as Jason's trip to Vermont. It will be fifteen minutes of high-quality exposure!

For those interested, it will air in Baltimore on 3 pm on Saturday,
88.1 WYPR. Times may vary for your local NPR station, but the story will be posted in its entirety on the NPR website after this weekend.

Thanks for the update, especially the Baltimore NPR info. The FSP also got a pretty positive write-up in the Sun not too long ago.

Let me know when commercial radio is producing or airing something of the same quality.

If you're a freestater, do you _have_ to be called a porc? I don't have a better abbreviation of porcupine is, but porc sucks.

Yeah, I agree. I hate "porc" as well-too many bad connotations. We need an alternative. Maybe 'pines? 'Orcs? 'Cupi's? Quills? Bristlers? Hmmm...pine trees have pine needles, which are analogous to a porcupines quills. Pine trees also have a lot of positive connotations--growth, shade, strength, shelter. FSP'ers also "pine" for freedom. I dunno. suggestions?
