I like to think that I'm well read.

However, I'm a mere piker compared to Cosma Shalizi.

Or Danny Yee.

Or this guy.

Wow! I knew Cosma in college, I was just trying to remember his last name a few days ago so I could google him. Cool.

I couldn't remember his name at all. But I did remember that Danny Yee had modelled his notebooks after Cosma's notebooks. And I remembered Danny Yee, because it was through his review that I found out about Philip Greenspun's book, Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing. And it was reading Greenspun's book that inspired a course of actions that eventually led to the job that I have now. I found Cosma's pages by doing a google search for "Danny Yee notebooks" which led to Yee's page describing how he modelled his notebooks after Cosma's.

I love google.

*grins* I've been keeping track of what I've read since the middle of '01. I read well over 100 books a year. The "goal" is 100 books a year, making sure that at least 20 of them are new to me. I tend to reach the 20-new-books goal in March and the 100-a-year goal in October or November. :) So I guess it's less a goal than a lifestyle at this point.

That's amazingly fast...a book every three and a half days? I'm impressed.

Damn!!

I thought I was well read... I am only in High School, but I already feel as if I have catching up to do. Hopefully when I go to college (and do not have a job) I will be able to devote more time to reading.
