Yeah, way pricey. For a heavy knock-around-town bike I'd get a beater with a trailer, if having room for a kid (looks like it's "kids" for only a very short time, much older and they'd be fighting for space) is the primary thing, then in that configuration a Bilenky Viewpoint would make them participants, rather than passengers.
