I think the worst shock for me (sex educated on a steady diet of soap operas) is that it's actually pretty annoying to have sex completely under the covers and most people do not do it that way.

Heh, yeah, under the covers is only for when it's really cold outside.

For me, the biggest surprise was that pain sensitivity decreases when you're highly aroused. I discovered this the day after a night of lengthy dry sex.

Waiting for the "rug burn" to heal so that I could have actual sex was intensely frustrating.
