Burning Man bike?

So I’m going to Burning Man in two weeks. Anyone have a bike they’d be willing to sell for cheap?

Yes, apparently, bikes are highly recommended by the BM organizers. Although they do suggest bikes with fat tires.

quite well! well, usually. the land that burning man is held is extremely flat and dry. it's a dry lake bed. during the winter it's a lake about an inch deep, and in the summer it all dries up crispy and lovely!

Have you been before? Might want to skip the bike and enjoy walking and surfing art cars. Also there's a community bike program -- look for solid green cruisers.

I say drop $300-500 on a fairly good mountain bike and bring a lock and some lights. Lots of people bring shitty bikes, but it's so much nicer to ride a good bike out there, and by nicer I mean 'less exhausting'. Make sure to have wide, fairly knobby tires as the playa surface is fairly loose this year. And hey, then you have a good bike back at home. The dust doesn't fuck up your bike, but rinse and oil the chain & gears when you get home.

Eh, I say drop $60 on a bike at Walmart. That way you won't feel so bad if you lose it or it gets stolen. Any tires that aren't thin road tires should be fine.

Granted a cheap bike will be heavier and more work though.

I also recall seeing people selling cheap bikes on the roadside within ~80 mi of the event. No idea of price range or reliability, or if they will even be there this year. Would make things easier for me though.

I have a bike that's been to the playa before you are welcome to for free in Redwood City. It's a road bike, it needs new tires and tubes.
