Rasch family memories....
2002-10-14 02:27 amToday I talked with my family. I am disappointed at the lack of confidence that my family seems to have in my driving ability. Get into a car accident six weeks after you get your license at 14 and pay for it the rest of your life it seems. Heather, upon hearing that I drove across the U.S. in a 25 ft. Penske truck with a car carrier: "You always wanted proof that there's a God. Well, there ya' go."
Ha, ha.
Heather seems happy with her new baby Hailey. You can practically hear her glowing over the phone. She'll make a great Mom. She's apparently quite a milker, and Hailery is becoming a bit rotund. Pictures to come. So far, the only picture I've seen is a grainy photo the hospital took, showing what looks like a beady-eyed kid sucking on a lemon. Since I'm sure that Hailey is the Cutest Baby In the World (co-champion with Jen's twins of course), I await more flattering photos.
My little brother Joe is dating a woman named Emily, whom he met while working at Costco. Apparently, she started making googly eyes at Joe while she was still married to her husband. (Though the relationship appears to have been strictly platonic, at least until Emily's divorce went through). She has a 14 month old daughter named Brooklyn. Joe's 21--I think Emily's around 23. Mom's dubious about Emily. I'm reserving judgement until I get to meet her.
Rachel and Ted seem to be doing well. They just bought (a few months ago) a swank house in Phoenix. At 23, I think they have the nicest house of anyone in my immediate family. Ted's a civil engineer and Rach is an architect--a match made in heaven. They've been dating since they were 15. They seem sickeningly happy with each other. They're hosting Thanksgiving this year. I'm looking forward to it, since I will get to see them + Heather/Jay/Hailey + Mom/Dad +Linley. I hope that Jen/Breanna/Bryce and Joe can make it, but they're making 'backing out" noises. Can't get the time off of work it seems.
Talked with Linley on the phone for a while. She gets to meet such interesting people and read such fascinating things in her line of work (science writer) that I'm frequently envious. She didn't feel well today--I hope that she feels better tomorrow.
