We think we see a baby's face because we know we are supposed to see a baby's face. Call me a skeptic if you must, but it's probably just a hoax. And that "baby" is really a high resolution porkrind.
As a mother of three, all I can say is I wouldn't bombard my baby with all that ultrasound just to see them in all their ugly fetal glory. Ewww. I suppose you could say you that you would see birth defects as they happen, but regular ultrasound does pretty well. Actually, ultrasound is pretty damned safe, but still.
I am not convinced these things work.
