It’d be nice if there was some practical way of rating people for the good and bad things they do each day. I sometimes wonder how often I inadvertently cause people hardship. “Boy, my lifebay ratings are really down today….what happened? Oh, I did run over that old lady in the parking lot. My bad.”

Have you ever read Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Corey Doctorow? It's his first book, he distributed it free on the web, and it features a great future universe in which currency is measured in "whuffie," basically a measure of goodwill from the rest of humanity.

You'd really like it, I think.

Thanks! Yeah, I have read that book, but I'd forgotten about whuffie. Thanks for the reminder.

I rate you a super Lifebay-er. Five thumbs up!

What would that do to spam?

Given that a whole bunch of my spam right now is dedicated to stealing my eBay ratings, wouldn't a large portion of my personal interactions then become fighting off attempts to steal my Lifebay identity?
