“The Canadian dollar reached parity with the U.S. greenback on Thursday for the first time since November 1976.

The loonie briefly reached $1.0003 US on foreign exchange markets shortly before 11 a.m. ET, the Bank of Canada said. The loonie’s stint at parity was brief, however, as it later slipped back to just under $1 US.”

Considering the trend over the past year or so, I really wouldn't be surprised if they surpass us shortly.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. I think we're dangerously close to a dollar collapse. I don't think the Chinese will hold onto a falling dollar forever, and if they start to sell, it could trigger a panic.

Not a great situation to be in, particularly with so many ARMS set to reset next month.
