I read that a couple of weeks ago, when someone posted it in a comment to my journal. It rambles quite a bit, and I don't think it really tells someone how to become a professional actress. It tells how *she* became a professional actress. It's definitely an interesting story.
I think she contradicts herself a bit when she says it doesn't matter who you know (because her roommate couldn't manage to get her signed on with his agent when she first went to L.A. [duh]), but later says how it was someone she knew who kept giving her breaks.
I think it does help to know people, but you have to know the right influential people, and they have to want to help you.
