Your workout becoming a bit boring? Why not take a stroll on China's Hua Shan?

Hua Shan Mountain

(Via flutterby.)

Or perhaps a short bike ride on the Cliffs of Moher?

Beautiful, but holy hell not something I'd like to try.

I think I could do Hua Shan mountain (in good weather). But the
Cliffs of Moher? On a bike?!? No way.

Yeaaah, my long standing twitchyness with heights rules that right the hell out. Certainly beautiful, but I do not trust myself to not trip over my own feet and go plummeting down.

I would not be particularly uncomfortable on the Hua Shan mountain. I am confident in my ability to hold onto a chain and not fall off.

However, I can't imagine wanting to be on a bike right at the edge of a cliffside.

But you have to factor in the *wind*! I used to do a lot of climbing and repelling (granted on fairly low grade cliffs) but I met my fear-of-heights match on a leisurely stroll up the stairs to a fire look out in the Sequioas. The stairs were railed by waist high chain link fence and the wind was so intense that, combined with the hideous and continuous rattling of the chain link, all I could think about was being blown off.

Granted, this seem to affect only *me*, because I was eventually butt scooting down the hundreds of steps while people with canes (and daschuands!) were motoring on by me, but egad I couldn't believe how much a strong wind affected my perception of the height I was at.

Wow! And here I thought hiking to the top of Angels Landing was a big accomplishment! No way in hell would I do that Hua Shan trail! Look at those rickety boards!

And I almost peed myself just looking at those extreme biking photos. Those guys are insane.

Yeah, those boards look stapled together. But they must be fairly sturdy, to handle as much traffic as they do.

Angels Landing looks georgeous.

I've climbed Hua Shan (Mount Hua)! It was bloody disgusting.

Disgusting? In what way?

Well...you've seen the photos :-p

It was really busy too; the Chinese seem to love to climb mountains. Except their mountain climbing always consists of 6 million steep steps (a la Great Wall) and it's hard work.
It's a massive tourist spot, mainly for the Chinese as I certainly didn't see any other foreigners there at the time (and for good reason!). So there's lots of smelly, weird food stalls.

I wouldn't recommend it :)

WTF on the Cliffs of Moher! That shit is not bikeable, no way no how. (People routinely walk on the other side of the fence I'm leaning against there, but that's friggin crazy.)
