You know, if we had a rational drug policy, we'd be dropping dozens of bales of marijuana into New Orleans right now.

You, sir, are correct.

But they'd need to be accompanied by crunch snacks.

Well, crates of Twinkies and Doritos would, of course, be in the next wave of airdrops.

Use twinkies to cushion the drop from the airplanes.

For an alternate dimension's White House press briefing:

"How does President [livejournal.com profile] crasch respond to allegations that he is himself responsible for the Great Katrina Dorito Riots?"

President [livejournal.com profile] crasch closed the press briefing with a message to the citizens of New Orleans 'Don't bogart the twinkies, dudes.'"

I bet you there wouldn't be a soul looting anything right now. Heaven forbid they give the people what they need instead of sweet talking them.

I suppose if we had a properly enforced national drug policy the problems in NO-LA wouldn't be as bad because most of those reefer addicts would be in lock-up.

Yeah, and if we hadn't repealed Prohibition, maybe the problems in NOLA woukldn't be as bad because most of those alcoholics would be locked up too.

Very true. However, alcohol is, for the moment legal. The Evil Weed is not.

In times od National Emergency, the authorities can suspend the sale of intoxicating spirits, so that issue can always be resolved that way. A more responsible Mayor might have tried to limit pre-hurricane alcohol sales.

Yes. Perhaps a more responsible Mayor would've limited pre-hurricane firearm and bullet sales. That way, they would've had fewer firearms and ammo to shoot at people.

I think the mayor definitely screwed the pooch on this one. Fortunately there were some shopowners who had the presence of mind (a la the LA riots) to harden their shops and arm themselves and thereby limit their losses.

I fail to understand why the larger corporations like Wal-Mart, Office Depot, Staples, etc. couldn't have used a very small portion of their financial resources to hire private security contractors (like Blackwater or MPRI) to go in and secure their facilities.

So many people dropped the ball on this one; it's embarassing.

The biggest mistake they've made is in not dropping a couple of small nukes directly in the middle of the French Quarter.

That'd take care of the looters and the rapists and the undesirables. Time to wipe those satanic Democrat-worshipping worthless poor off of the planet.

Someone I know seriously suggested the use of low-yield tactical nukes to quickly demolish the huge number of damaged structures in the city. And presumably people who still refuse to leave...

Good grief.

Just goes to show that whatever one posts with snark-rockets lit and flying will get said by someone else in all seriousness....
From: [identity profile] cynicalcleric.livejournal.com
Except people would've just looted them from the stores afterwards anyway.
