If you're planning to relocate within the U.S., you have libertarian leanings, and you plan to start a business, you may want to check out the Small Business Survival Index (PDF file). Published by the Small Business Survival Committee, the index ranks each state according to 17 criteria related to the "business friendliness" of the state--the lower the score the lighter the burden of government. Here's the ranking for the year 2001--how does your state rank?

Interesting how states where large businesses love to incorporate (Delaware, PA) have such a middling position on the small-business survival scale.

Yes, it is odd. Why don't more states incorporate in say, Washington? (Although aren't Nevada and South Dakota common states for incorporation?)
