An Evening With Terry Gross

Ah, the voice. That silky, calm, smart voice. I could listen to Terry Gross read from the phone book for hours. Her radio program Fresh Air has rescued me from numerous mind-numbing tasks. Yes, she has a liberal bias. The questions she poses to her conservative guests are much more pointed than those she lobs to her liberal guests. And it's amusing, because I don't think she thinks she has a liberal bias. However, she's much fairer than any conservative radio/TV personality of whom I'm aware.

Anyway, I just happened across this 2000 lecture she gave at Calvin college. Highly recommended to any other Fresh Air fans out there.

Her interview, a year or so ago, of Gene Simmons of KISS fame is classic. Gene is a supercilious ass, and you could hear Terry's dislike and distaste for him dripping from every syllable, as she strove her best to be objective and fair. You got the idea that she felt the need to wash her hands, several times, after the end of the show.

And with that lovely voice, I expected her to be a real babe. Unfortunately, she isn't. :/

Heh. I heard that interview when it was first aired. Simmons is an ass...although a marketing genius. His interview has received a lot more attention than anyone else in recent memory.
