Dear residents of 1929E...
2004-03-29 01:53 amDear residents of 1929-E,
Intellectually, I'm very glad you enjoy a vigorous sex life. Or enjoy chasing cats with jack hammers at 2:00 a.m. Whichever. However, if you would be so kind, please move your bed about 5 inches away from your east wall. Thank you.
Grumpily yours,
crasch

Date: 2004-03-29 07:21 am (UTC)Dear residents of 7208,
You seem to fall down a lot. Perhaps you should invest in some elbow and knee pads. Or you could pad your floor a little more so your loud, incessant thumps aren't isn't quite as annoying to us.
Dear residents of 6207,
I don't want to hear your loud, crappy music. Neither does anyone else. Also, seeing as though we are quite friendly with you, when you feel like being hypocritical and want us to turn our music down, pounding on the wall we share is not an acceptable, nor mature way of asking us to do so. You're an adult, and our front door is 10 feet from yours. Be a big boy, use your words.
Dear residents of 5208,
I'm glad you have lots of friends. However, it is not necessary to constantly invite them all over, get drunk, and yell to each other at 2am on the balcony that is 10 feet from my bedroom window.
I hope you all move out of here soon,
Anne-Elisa

Not that this affects me personally, but it just annoys me because if I can't get away with breaking the rules, why should anyone else? This person keeps backing their car into a parking space in the lot here at my apt. complex. There are signs all along the privacy fence where those parking spaces are (at least a dozen signs in front of every other parking space) that say, in big red letters NO BACK-IN PARKING ALLOWED. The manager of my apt. complex has left notes on this person's car 2 different times (and this person is a visitor of a resident, I think because they are parking in the visitor spots).
I wish she'd just call the tow company and tow the fucker. I'm actually thinking of doing it myself just because they annoy me.
I guess I'm not very nice.

Date: 2004-03-29 07:41 am (UTC)I had lived in this complex for about 3 years when this lady moved in with her teenage son. I'd never had any problems here beyond a neighbor maybe turning up their stereo too loud or something silly like that. After they moved in, there was always a group of teenage boys hanging around late into the night, drinking and shouting and making noise. The maintenance guy would constantly found broken beer bottles all over the parking lot (where little kids run around and play). 4 car were broken into, one of them being my brother's (he lives with me). That was so devastating that I cannot begin to describe it. To have our safety and privacy violated in what I thought was such a nice apt. complex. . .it's beyond words. I found myself parking where I could see my car from the window of my 3rd floor apt. and often sleeping on the couch so that I could hear if anything was going on outside. Some nights I barely slept. I was so angry.
I guess that made me realize that I've got to stick up for myself wherever I live and that I shouldn't let even the little rules that are broken go unnoticed because they can certainly lead to bigger things where people get hurt.
I know that person parking their car the wrong way doesn't seem like such a big deal, but once you fail to punish someone for a broken rule, the more often they'll break it and the more likely it will lead to other broken rules.
I don't want shit like that happening in my apt. complex again. I love this place.

Date: 2004-03-29 12:01 pm (UTC)The prohibition on backing of cars into stalls is pretty anal. I get annoyed when people can't seem to park between the lines or straight. I don't give a rat's ass if they back in or flip their cars on their roofs and slide them in (and do it quietly if it is dark out) as long as they can keep it between the lines and only take up one space per vehicle. That is the important thing. People tend to loose sight of that. Rules are funny things because the worship of the rules for rules sake tends to make people forget what the real problem is. Mutual respect.
I pay more in property tax on my house now than I used to in rent 10 years ago. It's WORTH it. My place, my rules :)
