64lbs and only about a 40 minute ride on battery power? I guess it's ok for a short jaunt to the store.

For comparison, the total weight of my Cannondale road bike, including frame, groupo, seat, pedals, handle bars, brakes, wheels, tires, gears, and computer, is only around 17lbs.

You do realize Raleigh is one of the least bicycle-friendly places to ride, right?

I was depressed at how useless my bike was when I moved up here. In Gainesville, there's not only bike lanes on most major and minor roads, virtually ALL roads have sidewalks. With ramps. And the city ordinances made most sidewalks bicycle routes.

Being a college town, Gainesville has a TON of bicylists and was small enough that you really didn't need a car except for toting large things.

Around here though, forget it. Hardly any bike lanes at all, few sidewalks... Half the time the sidewalk randomly disappears. Plus the legality of riding on the sidewalk is vauge. And the town is so spread out it's just sucky...
