This totally kicks the ass of the boat-car I posted previously.

Absolutely no contest.

The latest in a long series of money-sense equalizers.

Why would God harbor a working class resentment for people with money? Most of the people who own those things are old pensioners that are afraid to fly. They are also very well insured.

I don't think many old-pensioners own $1 million amphibious motor homes. One need not resent other people's money to think that the things that they choose to spend it on are ridiculous.

While that is an extreme example, most of the old folks who own those things have sold off their homes to buy them as their sole residence. A non-amphibious motor home of that size costs around $120,000. I would bet that most of the old folks who drive them are your average mid-middle class types. Though if they bought the water-tight one I'd bet that they did have more money than sense :).

Or they live somewhere like Grand Isle, Lousiana, where the road to anywhere else winds up under water several times a year.

Actually, a comparable non-amphibious coach runs about the same money, if not slighly higher than that.... look at the website and check the interior photos...

Well, they do say that it's for "protected waterways--lakes, rivers, etc." And although it can handle saltwater briefly, they say that a fresh-water rinse is required.

At Last!

This should be far more store resistant than the older models.

Just drive away from the tornado!

Cool. :)

crasch... you know james martin? Someone told me that you post on his blog occasionally.

The thing that is funny about all of this to me is that my in-laws are the people that design and manufacture this craft...

I may post in James Martin's blog, but I don't know him by that name. Is on LJ?

You're inlaws design and build Terrawinds? Sweet. Do you know how many they have sold? Who's buying?

It wasn't 100% complete until late July / early August... So they're still promoting the heck out of it. No sales have completed yet, and only one exists as of current. They've got a few contracts in the works for it, and a movie deal to use the Terra Wind. We're taking a roadtrip in it tomorrow to upstate New York, should be a nice trip.

Anyway, James' blog site is http://hk2k2.tripod.com/ (we were stationed together in the Corps a few years back).
