My favorite show of all times, bar none. It is obnoxiously liberal (or delightfully if you are into that kind of thing, which I am), but the writing was brilliant.

If you find you like it, don't bother going past the 5th season. The original writer and director left and it went to the typical cheap use of language and character arcs that exist in every other network drama.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I figured it would not be written to please my libertarian sensibilities. :)

Good show. I only watched the first few seasons though.

The Peters map just looks distorted in a different way. That is, compared to the globe rather than merely due to my pro northern european bias. I'd rather go with the Fuller map, the Goode homolosine projection, or the Waterman Butterfly Map.

I did. Ian McShane's Swearingen is one of the great villains of all time.

Curious: what about this clip persuaded you to give the show a try?

Here's a few things that come to mind:

It's a scene about cartography, a nerdy topic I've never seen addressed on TV before.
Josh blithely offered to force all schoolchildren's maps to be changed to the Peterson projection for $200.
The pompous attitude conveyed by "Of course you are."
The relationship implied when CJ batted Josh's leg away.
"You can't do that." "Why not?" "cos its freaking me out!"

Are you fan?

Not at all, actually. But everyone keeps raving about it so I feel I ought to give it a try.
