"The best response to it I heard as a student when during a mandatory class on the history of the communist party an instructor pronounced the standard piece about “excesses but industrialization and electrification”. He then called for comment on the young communists leader of the group - a safe selection from his perspective, a girl first in her family to go to college. Her response was priceless: “Electrification and industrialization were important, but I don’t understand why in order to achieve them they had to shoot my grandmother.” The instructor released the class early."
